Each time a page on your Internet site doesn't load, an error message will be displayed to the visitor. Because there are different errors, there are different pages which will show up, but what is standard for all of them is that they are generic and probably shall have absolutely nothing that is similar to the design of your Internet site, which can be frustrating for any site visitor. This is the primary reason why website hosting providers have introduced a function named Custom Error Pages. For a variety of different errors, visitors will see your unique content, which may be informative or humorous, based on your personal preference, and that will match the overall layout of your site, so the pages will not appear as if they are not part of your Internet site at all. You could use this option for many errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).
Custom Error Pages in Website Hosting
When you obtain a Linux website hosting service
from us, you will be able to set custom error pages for your Internet sites easily and quickly, since this function is a part of all of our plans. Once you have created the files and uploaded them to your web hosting account, you should check out the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and click on the Edit button for the particular domain or subdomain. In the pop-up which will be displayed, you will see drop-down options menus for all four types of errors and for each one of them you could choose an Apache default page, a generic page from our system or a tailor-made page. If you select the 3rd option, you should only enter the URL to the file that you have uploaded and save the change. A different way to set customized error pages is to set up an .htaccess file in the domain or subdomain folder and to include a couple of lines of program code in it. If you don't have previous experience or if you are just not sure how to do that, you could simply copy/paste the code from our Knowledge Base article on that subject.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting
All semi-dedicated services
which we supply support personalized error pages and it will not take more than a couple of clicks from your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel to use this feature. The option is included in the Hosted Domains section of your CP where you will need to enter the links to the custom-made files using basic drop-down menus and an intuitive interface. Needless to say, you must upload them to your account before that. If you do not need to employ this function at some point, you can easily disable it just as fast and choose an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be displayed when your visitors encounter an error. If you'd prefer, you could also use an .htaccess file to permit the customized error pages. The file needs to have a specific line of code and a link for each and every error type and you may find an example of the entire content for all four error types in our Help section.
